Sealing (gas, water, sewer)

CarboPur WF

Extremely fast reacting, two-component injection resin according to EN 12 71510, CFC-free and halogen-free, for sealing and consolidation in water-bearing strata and against water under pressure.

  • Consolidation in wet and water-bearing strata
  • Sealing off water under hydrostatic pressure in soil, rock strata, dams or shaft walls.
  • Repair of wet shafts, tunnels, channels and walls
  • Stabilizing fragmented and fractured rock layers in slope stability applications.

Description

Components:

CarboPur WF, Component A is a mixture of various polyols and additives.
CarboPur, component B is a polyisocyanate.

System:

The mixed resin penetrates the structure to be sealed. The water in the cracks and joints is displaced due to the hydrophoby and the viscosity of the resin. Traces of water make the resin foam.

Final product:

When the final mix comes into contact with water, the resin foams up in different volumes. Thus the mechanical properties varies accordingly. The cured resin is resistant against many acids, alkali and salt brines as well as organic solvents (if in doubt consult Minova ).

  • CarboPur WF, as a sealing material is compatible with groundwater and drinking water
  • No toxic influences to the groundwater
  • In contact with a tunnel sealing band (EN 12 637-3) no significant changes can be detected

Advantages

  • For the use in wide range of injection applications.
  • Very fast setting.
  • Compatible with CarboPur WFA and CarboPur WT.
  • Immediate sealing effect.
  • Works effectively in salt water.

Instructions

The two components are pumped by a dual component pump at the volumetric ratio 1 : 1; they are mixed thoroughly in a static mixer unit prior to injection into strata via a packer installed in a previously drilled borehole. In contact with water, the resin then foams up. The following reaction mix displaces then the preceding one. Since the mixture does not meet anymore water, it hardens without foaming to form a pore-free material. Thus a water-tight shell is foamed which, in turn, is surrounded by a zone consolidated by foamed–up polyurethane. This means that only one application cycle with one material is necessary for arriving at permanent sealing and consolidation. With strong outflow of water or in case of cold water we recommend use CarboPur WFA or WT. Those three resins can be combined with each other. For detailed instructions on use, consult the brochure „Operating instructions on proper use of Minova CarboTech injection resins“.

Recommendation: We recommend before processing, the product be stored for at least 12 hours at a minimum temperature of 15 °C to achieve the recommended processing temperature of between 15 °C and 30 °C. When the material is warmed up, local overheating, e. g. at the container wall, must be avoided.

Packaging

CarboPur WF, Component A:

  • 20 kg in a can

CarboPur, Component B:

  • 24 kg in a can

Shelf Life

At least six months from date of delivery or twelve months from date of production when stored in a dry place between 10 °C and 30 °C. If this time is exceeded, we recommend the material is checked by Minova CarboTech for compliance with specification.
